Yvette Juarez Ms. Lehmann English 2-1B 9 October 2019 My Worst Embarrassment “ I cannot believe you just did that Yvy!” said my best friend, Trini. “It’s not like I did it on purpose,” I said. I felt my cheeks get hotter and hotter as I became more embarrassed. I must have been as red as a tomato. All I wanted to do was curl up into a ball and never leave that formation again! Now let me catch you up so you can fully understand why it is I was wishing I could just melt away.It all started on a Friday. My friends and I were in a group chat where we all sent each other funny videos and shared hilarious conversations. I remember texting the group chats that Friday, hoping everyone would reply right away. “Hey, guys! Are you all free tomorrow?” “I definitely am,” Arlette said. “Same with me. I have no life. LOL!” said Trini. “Okay, great! My aunt said she would take us to the movies tomorrow if we all wanted to go with her and my other cousin from California, her name is Marisol,” I replied back to the group chat. It was finally Saturday, I started curling my hair and doing my makeup when I realized I was almost out of time! My aunt was rushing me because if I did not hurry, we would not make it to the movie on time. I looked horrible; I’m not going to lie to you. We drove over to pick up my cousin, Arlette, and Trini. My aunt dropped us off at the theatre, and we went in to buy the tickets. The plan was to watch Toy Story 4, but instead we snuck into a rated R movie called Crawl. The movie was about crocodiles. We waited for all the ads to pass through and let me tell you, the whole time I was in the movie, my heart was racing. My palms were sweaty, and my stomach had an achy feeling. I kept looking towards the theatre doors to make sure no one was going to catch us. After the movie, we decided to go to McDonalds because we were all starving. I called my aunt and let her know we were just going to walk there since it was so close. She said it was fine and to be careful and watch for cars. On our way, we decided to go to the McDonald’s on Blue Lakes. To be honest with you, I have no idea why. On the way to McDonalds, the road was empty, which was strange for Blue Lakes. It is one of the busiest roads in Twin Falls. I decided I was going to be careless and not use the crosswalk. (I know; I cannot believe myself either)! As I looked both ways and stepped off the sidewalk to run, I had barely even moved when I tripped. Right in the center of one of the busiest roads.Right in front of my friends. Right in front of a lady and her son who just happened to come by as I was falling. I would be lying if I told you that I was not debating on just lying there on the ground, waiting to get hit by a car to save me from the embarrassment. Instead I got up, looked both ways again, and ran to the McDonalds parking lot. The lesson I learned was to always follow the rules and use a crosswalk, even if there are no cars. You might end up like me and fall in the middle of a busy road. In the words of Mrs. Meyer, I guess you could say that friction was definitely not on my side that day!
Personal Narrative Reflection 1. Explain the process you went through to write this paper. Please be specific. I started with a brainstorm, then I started my outline, moved onto adding dialogue, adding show don’t tell, began the writing story, and then after made the corrections to my story.
2. What qualifies this paper as a narrative? What are the requirements for this genre and how did you meet them? My paper qualifies as a narrative because it is a story I wrote that really did happen to me. The requirements would be adding dialogue, point of view and details.
3. What is one part of your story that you think turned out really well? What do you like about that part? I think the first part of my story is the strongest, I added dialogue and details.
